Week 1 - Response to Content

This lecture got me thinking, and opened my eyes to see that communication technologies are so much more than the internet, television and my iPhone.

I didn't know that we actually communicated with each other through so many different medias/devices, telephones, pictures, music, television, radio and so on.  And to think about how important communication are for us, and that it goes hundreds of years back in time and that it has been around for centuries. It is pretty interesting to see all the different forms of communication that have been made through time e.g. writing, Morse code and smoke signals.

Marshall McLuhan argues that technologies are extensions of human body, I couldn’t agree more. When I don’t have my phone on me or don’t have internet access on my laptop I feel completely lost, I feel empty like something is missing. Who would have thought that daily communication was this important to us. This led me to this question, are we too dependent on technology now days or is this just a part of our evolvement into new technology?
